Frequently Asked Question

General

  • What is Layke?

Layke is an API solution for intelligent screening and matching. Trained on a large amount of data and built on advanced machine learning technology, our algorithm has the capacity to read, interpret, and analyze resumes as a human resource, but faster. What has always been largely done by a human being can now be done by a machine.

  • How much does it cost?

Layke offers a subscription model based on the number of users. Prices are fixed and we do not charge extra for the integration. Contact us and find out more about pricing and plans.

  • What is the story behind the name “Layke”?

The name Layke (pronounced just like the english word “lake”) is inspired by the term “data lake” which is a data library stored in its natural format, most commonly in files. Our algorithm works with unstructured data and organizes it to help you and your business improve recruitment strategies, based on artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions.

  • How does Layke tackle the unconscious bias in the recruitment process?

Research in recruitment has raised the same problem in over 60 years - people can be discriminated against during the selection process (source: assessio).

Layke can be used to help recruiters disconnect from the human bias and prejudices and instead evaluate all candidates on equal terms. Layke uses a language model that has a deep understanding of words, meaning that the algorithm doesn’t make decisions based on pattern recognition.

When screening the profiles of the candidates, Layke does not take into account any information that is not relevant to the job description, such as: name, age, gender, sexual orientation, religion, cultural background or any other details related to the candidate's personal history.

Moreover, our team develops the algorithm with the purpose of facilitating an objective recruitment process. We actively listen to both the candidates and recruiters in regards to possible biases that have come across and teach Layke to be aware of those prejudices when analyzing the resumes.

If you (a candidate or a recruiter) noticed or experienced a certain bias in the recruitment process, reach out to us and let us know so we can teach our algorithm to tackle it!

Integration

  • Can Layke integrate with our current systems and services?

Yes, Layke can seamlessly integrate with your existing systems and services, without additional changes or charges. Do you want to learn more about how Layke can adapt to your system? Contact us and we can help you with your questions.

  • How does the integration process work?

Layke facilitates the process of integration with your current HR systems and tailor-made solutions, meaning that you don’t need to make any further changes in the development process or pay additional charges.

Process

  • How does Layke read information from resumes?

When analyzing the profiles of the candidates, Layke focuses on three specific areas: experiences, skills, and industries.

When analyzing the profiles of the candidates, Layke focuses on three specific areas: experiences, skills, and industries.

The algorithm extracts the text from the document and uses machine learning models that take into account both the semantic meaning and the structure of the text.

When analyzing experiences, Layke connects the roles and dates and ends up with an experience base containing one or more roles and a period of time.

Skills are extracted both from running text such as “During my time at company X, I have worked in A, B, and C. I am also proficient in D.” as well as from listed skills.

Industries are extracted by analyzing the companies and organizations the candidate has worked for. The industry extraction is based on the SSYK (Standard för svensk yrkeskategorisering) and ISCO (The international Standard Classification of Occupations) classification structure for organizing information on labour and jobs. Industry experience is extracted both from running text, for instance “During my time at company A”, as well as from listed experiences.

The extracted information (experiences, skills and industries) is then ready to be used in Layke’s Matching Algorithm, together with information extracted from job ads.

  • How can Layke help my business?

Layke can facilitate what is considered to be the most time-consuming task in a recruiting process, which is screening. Our algorithm uses the latest technology in machine learning to extract, select, and organize unstructured information from resumes and job descriptions. This way, it avoids unconscious prejudices and employs objectively, thus encouraging a transparent recruitment process.

  • Which languages does Layke support?

Layke currently understands resumes and job descriptions in English and Swedish. We work together with ESCO (European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations) on making Layke understand all European languages.

  • Which file formats does Layke support?

We currently support documents in .pdf and Word (.docx) formats. However, it is possible to add other formats on request.
